Christianity

Your relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important part of getting serious about your role as a mom and a wife.  If you don't have a relationship with Him (if you have not put Christ on the throne of your heart instead of yourself), nothing else you do will matter.  You might teach your child wonderful skills and knowledge, and yet, if you do not get this part right, you will not be leaving a legacy of eternity.  (Not that I'm suggesting your child will become a Christian just because you are--but faith is caught, not taught.)  If all of this sounds foreign to you or if you simply want more information, please check out the links on the left.

Some Basics:

  • You are sinful.
  • God is holy.
  • Sinfulness and Holiness have nothing in common.
  • God loves you and sent His son Jesus so that you can be Holy too.
  • You must receive Jesus as Lord of your life.
  • When Jesus is the Lord of your life, the Holy Spirit lives within you.
  • Holiness does not necessarily mean perfection on this earth.
  • All religions are not the same. Jesus said He is the way, the truth, and the life,....

I have not read this book yet, but it is on my list. Right after it was published, my husband and I got to go hear Brian McLaren speak at a church in Portland. We loved the stuff he was talking about--challenging!!  I recommend this book solely based on how impressed I was with his subject matter & his speaking.
