Quicklinks Pages
What are they?
Well basically, I custom
design a page for you with links that you look at often. You can
add 1 or 2 photos to the page, and whatever links you like (within
reason)! You can set your Quicklinks page as your homepage and
have access to your favorite links every time you go online!

What's the catch?
No catch, really! I
have made one of these pages for myself and have really enjoyed the
convenience of just clicking on the links I use most instead of having
to sort through my favorites, my bookmarked sites, or search for
whatever I'm looking for yet another time.
What about a web search?
The right column of this page
will be on every single Quicklinks page. If you prefer a specific
search engine that I haven't linked to & if the code is available, I can
add it to the center of your page or above or below the other search
engines on the right.
FYI:
The left Column ("New on This
Site") will be the same on everybody's Quicklinks Page. This is
just to let you know what is is new and great on Serious Moms!
Fun Stuff:
I plan to do some polls,
quizzes or fun questions to answer in the left column; and there will be
prizes available occasionally.
Suggested Categories:
I really like everything to
be neat and organized. If you prefer a messy page with link after link &
no categories, that's ok too. But I like things to be neat and
tidy! My suggested categories (and go ahead and come up with your
own!) are:
A Word about adding
photos:
Editing graphics is my least
favorite thing to do in creating a website. If you'd like a photo
on your Quicklinks page, please send me 1 or 2 photos that are already
re-sized to no more than 300 pixels wide. (Note: the pics on
my page are 100 wide) Add borders or whatever
you want--just please don't make me do this part! :)
My Limit:
I won't add any links to
sites with objectionable materials. I think this is a given. I
don't want to have to look at those sites to link to them. Nor do I want
to use my skills to create stumbling blocks! I reserve the right
to refuse posting links, photos or content that I feel is inappropriate.
Page Design:
I can change this white
section to be another color if you like, or add a graphic if you choose
to. Like with the photos, please re-size it to no more than 300 pixels
wide. And if you didn't create the graphic, let me know the source
so that we can give credit where it's due.
Name of the Page:
Choose a name for your page,
but it'll be something like this:
www.seriousmoms.com/quicklinks/brendaspage.htm. I will let you
know if the name you'd like is not available.
Why am I doing this?
I like people coming to
Serious Moms. It's a pretty cool site, in my opinion. :)
Making a Serious Moms your home page will keep you coming to this site
often! Also, to put it bluntly, there is a slim chance that if
people are on this page often enough, they might look at the Serious
Moms Store or buy something from an Amazon search. I don't like
sites with tons of pop ups or advertisements, but they serve a
purpose--to generate some income for the site creator's hard work.
Designing a site like this literally takes hours, and any profit I make
off of the Amazon links is just a bonus for those many, many hours.
I make about 5-6% on most items, and sometimes more on special things
Amazon is trying to promote (this month is 20% on Amazon music
downloads, but it changes all the time). It doesn't cost any more
to Serious Moms visitors if they were already going to buy something
(and Amazon always has amazing prices!). Know that whatever I make
I for sure tithe a minimum of 10% on, and beyond that I usually purchase
more resources to read & recommend (or not recommend) on Serious Moms.
So, whenever somebody buys something through the Amazon search box or
through the Serious Moms Store, they're supporting this site!! :)
A few other notes:
Nobody will be able to edit
the page themselves. I will do all of the editing, because it's
stored on my computer, and on the server that I pay a monthy fee for.
Sorry, not givin' y'all my passwords! :) When you e-mail me about
your quicklinks page, please send all of the information I need at once.
I get sent a lot of e-mails each day and can't sort through e-mails to
find everything I need to make each page. Please send me 1 e-mail
that's something like this:
"I'd like to make a
quicklinks page! I want the name to be "Brendaspage," and I have 2
photos and 1 graphic attached, my favorite color is purple, and here are
the links I want to have on my page:"
Something like that! :)
You're welcome to send me more links to add every now and then, but
please no more than 1 time per month.
With every new photo or
search engine (or Bible verse generator, or clock, whatever you want to
add), it slows down the time it takes to load. If you like things
to happen fast, I suggest you don't add photos or extras, or just make
your photos as small as you can.
Search engines will be able
to find these pages. Don't
put anything private or
personal that you wouldn't want everyone in the world to know about on
this page. For example, I don't recommend a "Passwords" category,
or "Mom's Phone Number" to be posted on these pages!
Now all you've gotta do is
e-mail me with your info!
