Wow, is it already
September?!? This
summer has gone so
quickly!! We were
gone for the entire
month of July,
trekking across the
country with a
mini-van and a tent
trailer. We saw so
many different
awesome things!
Soon I will update
my link to our
family site so that
you all can see
photos and journal
entries from our
trip. Currently,
our house is for
sale, and our family
site has photos and
info for that!
We are planning to
move! We have a
house picked out in
a town that is about
20-30 minutes away
from here. We will
be slightly closer
to my husband's
work, much further
from our church, but
in a nice, smaller
community, in a
bigger, brand new
house. Yup, we're
getting a new
construction house,
scheduled to be
finished sometime
around Feb. or
March. We will be
renting until then,
after we sell our
current home, that
is. So many crazy
things going on!!
Originally we wanted
to get farm land
(you know, I've
mentioned my desires
for a cow on here
before). But it
really came down to
having to choose: do
we want more kids
(and thus, enough
bedrooms for more
kids), or a cow?
And, do I want my
husband working at
home (meaning, a
dedicated den and a
high speed internet
connection), or
chickens? :) We
really couldn't
afford all of the
above, so we decided
that we would move
into a neighborhood
that is being built
on what used to be a
farm (so we'll have
awesome soil!).
And, if you drive
out of our future
neighborhood, there
are farms all around
it...So we can walk
to farms. And hey,
maybe someone will
board some chickens
for me...and a cow?
:)
The boys seem to be
getting more and
more active. Isaac
is almost 4, Kaleb
is 2 1/2 and Noah is
almost 2. They are
BUSY! They run, and
jump, and sing,
pretty much ALL the
time! I looked up "homeschooling
active boys" in
Google tonight and
found a whole bunch
of links about ADD.
What?! As if just
being an "active
boy" means they have
ADD? I don't think
so! I know that I
will have to teach
them in active
ways--we can jump &
learn to count, and
march to memorize
Scripture. They can
learn, just not the
same way girls
naturally learn.
How frustrating, the
ways that the
feminists are
impacting our
boys!!! Getting
them all on rittalin
to make them behave
like girls. I am so
glad (for my kids'
sake) that I am a
homeschool momma!!
I have received
quite a few e-mails
about my thoughts on
feeding an
underweight
toddler. I am
thinking it's about
time to write more
about that topic.
Unfortunately, there
isn't a lot out
there on the topic,
and on Yahoo, for
the longest time,
Serious Moms has
been the top site
that pops up!!
Crazy! Many of you
have asked how Isaac
is doing now. He is
not growing well,
still. The poor
little guy has had
to have his blood
drawn so many times
to find out what is
going on. He's done
urine samples, stool
samples, etc. We
weigh him daily, we
feed him high
calorie foods like
crazy, we give him
drip feedings
through his
gastrointestinal
tube, and
still--minimal
growth. We just had
his tonsils removed
on Monday, hoping
that he would stop
gagging and vomiting
(his tonsils were
huge). Please pray
for him if you think
to. He's the
skinniest little
guy!! He grows
taller, he just
doesn't grow wider
and he doesn't gain
weight very well. I
will write more soon
about some more of
the high calorie
foods we've tried on
him, the tests Isaac
has had done, and
whatever else I
think of.
It's only 9:30 and I
am exhausted!! It's
really tough keeping
our house spotless
and ready to show at
any moment with 3
active boys! And
this morning I
decided I was going
to make sticky rolls
and
lasagna, as well as
washing the dishes,
folding the laundry,
making the beds,
changing the sheets,
vacuuming, sweeping,
mopping, caring for
3 boys, making sure
Isaac got his tube
feeding, stopping
fights,
disciplining, and
more!! (oh, and all
before 10, because
that's the earliest
people can come to
look at the
house--it didn't
happen by 10 am, so
I was thankful we
didn't get any phone
calls this morn!!).
Needless to say, I
am TIRED! :) |
