Brenda's Blog: 8/28/2004

This is my first time writing a weblog, and to be quite honest, it feels a little strange typing for all of you, when I don't even know who all of you are.  I hope as I add more and more to this site that you, whomever you might be, will find reason to contact me and let me know who you are.  I would love to hear that this website is reaching someone out there and impacting their life for His glory.

So today my family went to the Oregon State Fair.  It seemed like something fun to do, and we had an out of town guest who we thought might enjoy it.  My husband and I decided today that neither one of us really like going to the fair much.  It's busy, expensive, hot, smelly, and I always have to wonder if the food is safe to eat.  The summer time and the heat always seems to give women a license to show almost every part of their body with clothing that is barely there.  It is disgusting, and there was plenty (too much) of that going on at the fair, also.

Three positive things happened at the fair today--we got Bush/Cheney bumper stickers to put on our cars, and also stickers to wear around the fair.  Second, I decided that, though I've always joked with my husband (and half meant) that I wanted a cow someday, I decided today that cows are really quite large, and I'm not sure what I'd do with one.  Maybe a chicken now?  Anyways, the third great thing that happened was that we saw a little booth set up that had pictures and plastic molds of tiny babies (the way they look in the womb), and we got to sign a petition against causing pain to the unborn.  That was awesome.  One of the plastic molds of the tiny babies was about the same size as my son was when he was born....

Another awesome thing happened, right as we were leaving the hot, smelly, sticky place.  We saw some young girls in hot pink shirts that had "Planned Parenthood" written across them.  First of all, let me explain that by promoting abortion, and "pro-choice" the organization "Planned Parenthood" is really helping women plan to be parents of a dead child.  Anyways, I saw this booth--and I SO wanted to say something.  I kept walking, and then really felt God prompting me to go back....so I did.

When I walked up to those young girls who were promoting "choice" for one individual (the mother) and yet denying it for another (the child), I smiled politely and said "I just wanted to tell you guys something."  They said "yeah?" and smiled, as if I was coming to thank them for their efforts.  I pointed at my almost 3 year old, beautiful son.  I said "this little boy was born at 26 weeks gestation, when women are still having abortions, and he was alive...."  They said "thanks" and smiled at me, and as I walked away I was shaking, and praying for those girls.  I hope it shook up their day.  I hope that it made them think.  It's a life.  It's a LIFE.  It's a God-Ordained LIFE, and he knitted it together piece by piece.  Just because a woman has decided to drop any morals she might have had and sleep around prior to a committed, marital relationship, it does not give her the right to "choose" to kill a LIFE.  It is still a LIFE, and in our country, an AMERICAN who deserves freedom just like the rest of us.

Here is a picture of my son Isaac just 12 days after he was born:

(he was 1 lb 12 oz and 13 inches long)

And a picture of him now:

(He has a feeding tube in his nose to temporarily help with his weight gain.  Other than that, he is perfectly healthy, beautiful, active and ALIVE.)

Please check out this website for some great, real-life information that pro-choice people will never show you:  www.abortionno.org

As a side note, please, when casting your vote for who is going to be our next commander in chief, remember that President Bush believes that a "fetus" is a BABY and deserves LIFE.  John Kerry believes that it's ok for a human life to be murdered if nobody cares about it.  (Another side note--there are families like us just WAITING to adopt a baby, and sometimes families wait for up to FOUR years.....There is no excuse for abortion, and it is not okay under any circumstance!).

Terrorists have killed 3,000 Americans since 1990.  Abortionists have killed 4,000 Americans since yesterday.  Think about it....
